Hopefully Walker sees the bigger picture than a quick cash grab. Longer term security should satisfy the reduced weekly income. He could be without a wage/club in a few weeks if he isn't interested, but like you say, he shouldnt be short of offers. Will those offers be on parity with what we are offering him though....

Then there is the headache of finding a club that is local - he has just bought a house I believe? No doubt teams like Salford and maybe Doncaster could appeal and possibly be interested. Not sure on L1 clubs - Stockport maybe. Dont see him returning to Wigan, and Barnsley probably looking at better.

 

Yeh, I reckon a 2 year deal with an option of a 3rd is on the table. Possibly £3k a week, down to £2k a week. Longer term security the key.

 

The other thing with Walker is he’s not yet turned 31, he could keep going in this league and league 1 for a few years yet. Maybe a Smallwood type deal 2 years with a 3rd if sufficient appearances

 

Dunno if he's bought, I drove past his rented terrace in Baildon a few days back and his cars were still on the street outside there.

Salford might be an option, maybe Chesterfield? They are who I think Oliver will join. They've got money and already a good squad, Cook has his eye on back to back promotions.

 

Just to point out that Sparks' quote says "every player... have got options in their contracts". We all interpreted that as options in the club's favour but, as we've seen with Smallwood and Stubbs, some of those were in the player's favour if they played enough games, and not up to the club to decide.

Therefore it could be that Jamie's option was in his favour but he didn't play enough games to trigger it, therefore he will technically go out of contract hence the need to offer him a new deal. Just a thought.

Stubbs could be one of the 6 contracted player's that Ga would like to move on
Oliver, Mcdonald, Taylor, Odasina, maybe Wilson.
None have featured much under his leadership.

 

Looks like I have ruffled your feathers. If you fully accept everyone is entitled to their view then belittling or condemning another persons opinion is hardly conducive to expressing free and open views and opinions. What is more constructive is to explain why you disagree.

Agreed but it could be a set number of appearances over the life of the contract. Stubbs was on an 18 month deal and played pretty much every game Jan-May last year. As a percentage (of games played which he was contracted for) his could be higher than Walker's over the latter's 2 year deal. It's all speculation however.

I agree on Stubbs (Im easy either way, dont think GA rates him and don't think we would miss him).....but Taylor and Odusina will be pushed out before Stubbs.

And at the moment we only have Kelly and Stubbs under contract at CB, and who may remain here next season.

Thing is though I don't think his percentage of games was much better before we signed him, so we signed him with the poor injury history so surely that is factored in to his current deal. If he had been playing constitently previously he probably would have been playing at a higher level

 

The thing is Alexander puts a lot store in what players do in training and I am sure when Stubbs arrived he said he could only take part in trading towards the end of the week due to past injuries. I don’t know whether that is still the case

 

Definitely, this is what infuriates me more than anything, the powers that be do not do their due diligence. As I said in my previous post, he has played 122 games in 6 seasons. So in his 4 years before coming to City, he made a grand total of 60 appearances in 4 seasons for other clubs. Would this not have sent alarm bells ringing?? It would to me. But I suppose that’s what happens when you have someone like sparks calling the shots. Absolutely zero footballing knowledge, and seemingly zero common sense too

 

In the Alexander interview Andy, Alexander seems happy with Stubbs extending his contract and looks forward to introducing him back into the squad for pre season. The rest of the names I agree with you.

 

Yes just listened to it, but i would hardly expect him to say Stubbs is shite and i do not want him near the dressing room, especially as that could happen come pre- season.
